Bowl feeds carbon monoxide sensors through an inline track to a dead nest where a bar code reader registers the serial number, then picks and places the sensor into a nest on a 16 position indexed dial plate. Sensor clip is clamped into nest and optical color and contact sensors are used for a Red, Yellow, & Io test to determine sensor performance. Good sensors are unloaded to packager and rejected sensors are unloaded into individual containers based on the type of failure.
